Before there was the NDG Music School, Jon ran his own one-man school of rock called ‘It Came From The Garage!’ from 2006 until the creation of NDG Music School in 2017. Jon taught privately out of his home in NDG and in 2006, he had the opportunity to put together his first rock band class with a group of teens. He ran it out of a friend’s basement. At the end of the session, he put on a showcase for the group at a local venue. He called the event Live From The Garage!. This was the first show of what went on to become a biannual then an annual event. In 2007, Jon met Mike through another one of his students and began teaching him. Mike performed at every subsequent show. Fast forward to 2016 – Mike had graduated university and become a teacher and he and Jon began discussing how to bring the “School Of Rock” idea to life. One year later, the NDG Music School was born! This video was put together to mark ten years of Live From The Garage!. It tries to capture the essence of the event but it also shows the underlying concepts behind the NDG Music School.
